So I started to transplant some of the plants that were a little big for their homes. As you can see....pots aren't too much deeper but they are much wider. I am just transplanting as a trial for me. Normally, I am straight to final pot from Solo. I was told I am unable to build a quality root ball by using this method. Apparently the roots grow straight down instead of outwards. So...here it exhibit A. It went straight to a 5 gallon from a 16 oz Solo cup. Very nice even roots throughout the entire pot!

Always wondered if the roots like the fabric pots . I feel like I get way more root growth in pots though. I'm saying this and my biggest plant to date was in a five gal fabric pot lol

I don't know if you notice but I have like 2 or 3 plastic pots I got from Dollar Tree a while ago. Honestly....I have grown some very nice sized plants in them without problems. Reason why I never toss them. Rinse them out and good to go.

Have moved the rest out of their Solo cops and into their new homes. I'll keep them in here for a good 2 weeks unless they get big too fast. Going to start counting nodes on a few and see how far away I will be from cutting. I am thinking main-lining each and allowing 8 colas per plant. This is not set in stone as of yet.

Noticed a little yellowing starting on a couple of their cotyledons. May start nutrients at no more then 25% of the charted doseage.

This is a little tutorial on on of the ways I like to train my plants....First up, the plant.

I remove the first and second node. I count the first node where the cotyledon and single leaf starts. So technically, node 3 will become node number 1 for me.


This is node #1, #2 , #3 and #4 in the pictures.



Nodes 3 & 4 are now #1 and #2. After a few days of recovering, each side will then be topped once.

You can really do whatever you want to them....as long as they are in veg. I don't think I am gonna do them all this way. But I have found this to be one of the easiest ways to do so. You pull those 4 outwards when they grow long enough and everything else from midway up fills the middle in. Since I will have a higher plant count, I want to make sure they don't get too much out of hand. 2 colas per side and remove anything from mid down. If I have a low plant count...I am not too hardcore on training then.

Just wanted to note that tomorrow morning I will start their first feeds....will start first feed well below 25% of rec dosage. I removed many of the first nodes already on the plants. Doing so, I seen that they were starting to yellow just slightly. This is my sign that tells me they want food!!!

I will be training using this method as well...this will be a normal topping along with LST when the time is right.

First up...the plant. Bazooka Blast.



There are 5 nodes total so far on the BB. The node I am pointing to in the picture below would be considered the first node. I like to remove this node completely from all my plants regardless of how I train them.



I won't sit and point out each one but they can be counted 1 thru 5 started from the node I removed above. In the picture below, you can see me pointing with trimmers at node #4 and #5. I will remove that 5th node.




After I am done the plant looks like this...pictured below.



So now that part is finished, I'll give them a few days to recover and grow in and LST will begin. Also note**** once the side branching begins from my new nodes, I'll remove the fan leaves from my new nodes #2 and #3. This just allows light and room for the new growth to reach the tops.

First feed today for the plants. The Fox Farm trio calls for 30 ml per gallon of Big Bloom the first week....IMO, that is WAY too much for the plants.
First feed as follows : 5ml per gallon of Big Bloom and 2.5 ml of Grow Big. I also use 5ml per gallon of cal-mag.

Picked up some 1 gallon pots today from Home Depot. @sfrigon1 suggested were to get them. Normally I would just order from Amazon or Ebay but I wanted to make sure they weren't too flimsy. Should be moving the plants over to them in a few days. 98 cents a pop....can't beat it really.

I use those same ones and really like them. BTW, I have grown less and less fond of using keg cups to start plants, because I like to reuse them to reduce waste, and they get brittle over time. None of the big box stores or local garden stores sell nursery pots so I asked a guy in the garden center at Lowe's if they had any 4" Burpee pots that were going in the trash from plants that didn't make it to sale. He claimed they send them back to Burpee, but I seriously doubt that, so I went down the street to another big garden center and asked them the same question. She went out back, handed me a stack of about 30 of these, and said "We just throw them out so take these with you and just wash them in a bleach and water solution before using them." Guess who's getting my business for garden supplies now?

Those are what mine are in now. Normally I went solo right to final pot. Was told not a good way to build a solid root ball. So I am transplanting a few times just this run to see if I see any kind of difference. I'll more then likely be using those above to start mine off as well. They arent much bigger then a Solo cup.

I got them transplanted into the 1 gallon pots today. Since I added fresh soil, I will be skipping this week's feed. Should be more then enough in the soil for maybe even next week too. See how it goes when we get there. I have gotten a real chance to show what is what so with that being said here we go....

Back row on the left is a Stank Bubble.

I usually get to top around 10-14 days. Varies on the plants. Sometimes I can get in to train early but others I'll pull outwards as they stretch up and let the middle nodes fill the middle in. Works pretty well most of the time.

I did. Grabbed a few stacks of them actually. Already transplanted them too.
