I flipped H2 early only because 2 spots opened up in my 3 X 3 due to 2 out of 3 regs being male. I was going to cull her seeing she was smaller than H1 and H3(they will get flipped soon) but I was like what the hell, let me try H.A.F.'s approach and see what kind of results I can get with a 25 day veg and 50-60+ day flower. I bet it turns out to be better than any auto I have ever run and if it does I highly doubt I will ever run another auto again. Well, unless H drops some new Mac X Lemon Tree auto beans. Or if I grow a sack and score sum of those auto beans off of blu tri which I have a sneaking suspicion he dips in bath salts.
Flipping mine when they show sex as early as that may be. Usually when the nodes start to offset.

Salute @Heisenbeans. I know I need to get better at determining sex when I run regs so I would like to ask what particular part of the plant I should be looking at when it is coming up in veg, and what are the light bulb tell tell signs of it's sex?

Cheers, Z.
You want to look for the preflowers once the nodes start offsetting. Females will have a single calyx, where the nodes meet the main stalk, with a pair of stigmas poking out of it. Male preflowers grow in the same area, but are pollen sacs, and often show more than one preflower in each location. IIRC, males usually show sex before females do, too.

Right on tfc, and you can accomplish this all in veg without flipping to flower?

I have run 12/12 from seed, and flipped after they started alternating nodes - and they still waited to show pre-flowers until the plant was ready at about 5-6 weeks. I don't think flipping early advances when they flower, but it does induce stretch while they are getting ready.
Yeah, they aren't going to flower until the plant is sexually mature, and I'm pretty sure it takes time for those hormones to be created within the plant.

I used to start and grow quite a few plants when I had a GH, never had a plant show preflowers until 6wks and after.
Never seen em indoors until light manipulation, though I usually flip 4 to 5 wks.

I read somewhere that both males and females should be showing pre-flowers by day 50 of veg.

Just got done cleaning up and taking a good look at my girls and Countyline Hashplant nodes are definitely offset and have been for a while now. I bet this cultivar would have no issue with a quick veg. Countyline Harlets look like they are just now starting to offset and are OK to flip at anytime. I think I am going to give them another week or so just to make sure they are super healthy then flip em.

I didn’t say I did that or that you should do it. It’s just what I’ve read.
I meant that I've read that too. And I don't agree. That they'll eventually show preflowers in veg is not a given. Some plants will just keep growing until you flip them.
