Platinum Lemon Cherry Gelato Contest Shit Talk & Banter

Dazed and confused
Welllllll...

The applications and opportunities for energy conservation are very different and so there's plenty of room for innovation.
I guess I should say, it's my experience that liquid cooling is pretty standard for gaming overclocked PCs. A sealed unit with a pump for circulation, I figured if people are risking a high dollar CPU it ought to be fairly safe. I know those chips get really 🔥 lol

Put the girls in for a bath! Lets see how long before these monkeys grow a tail! 🤔
After 24hrs soaking in plain cold water, there were still no tails, so I planted them during "witching hour" this morning. Stuck them on a heat mat to get this shit show started.
I'm planning on dropping the rest after the 15th(best time to plant above ground crops) by F. A.
I have so much to do, while stuck in trim jail.

You don't use warm water? I always put my cups on a mat to raise Temps in the 80s

I normally do, but I got busy and left them in the cabinet and I had to hunt down the heat mat I had stored away.
Nothing wrong with the seeds,
I just wasn't quite ready to begin another grow.
I'm in the middle of doing a major clean in my grow space.
Ohio voted for recreation yesterday which passed.
Things will be changing in the near future for me and Ohio.
Thanks again for having this contest for the members.
I better get my ass in gear and stop being lazy with the small things like water temp. lol

I know I'm going to hell for all of the seedlings I have killed 😆 but I use rapid rooters "now" to pop beans. Gives me a little buffer for the 100% Cana Coco that I grow in. I also have less PH issues starting out seeds. Then rock wool for the DWC starts. I used to use the paper towel or soak methods, but now just toss them in a plug. I also use peroxide solution to kill any living anything good or bad for the pop. Heat mat and 24r light 80/80 temp/humidity and my survival rates are better now and because I said that...

I add about 1ml h2o2 to a shot glass of my seedling water, 30:1 ratio. I do it more for the added oxygenation at the initial soak, but after a half hour or so it has all converted/degraded/evaporated/whatevered back to h2o. I don't think the solution I use kills much of anything.

RO water, 12 hour soak on a heat mat then I start checking for tails. They go into seed starter soil as soon as I see a tail or at 18hrs. I also stir them occasionally or poke the floaters down to re-wet the tops.

If that doesn't germinate a fresh seed they are duds in my book.

Germination isn't an issue. Maybe that other part tho... I used to do exactly what you just stated, but getting a sprout into hot buffered coco that's the trick there and what I was sharing a trick for was the shitty rooter. Being the banter thread I was being slightly sarcastic bc I really hate rooter plugs in my soul for clones and would typically never use one for treasured bean. Which I believe to be a commonality amongst growers. But like everything someone says try this and I be damned it works. My h2o2 is not your pharmacy shit either. And if I get full OCD then I'll break out the pool shock! I'm a hydro guy from organics past I devolved.. 🤣 but I do play with a lot of synganic, Aminos, KNF juices and microbes stuff with my salts & Coco. I modified how I popped seeds for the last lifetime bc I changed my grow style for efficiency, consistency, space for more lol. A huge pot for me is two gallons lol. I'm going to try to run six ,try meaning if I don't kill one 😂,
in 1 gallon bags with only coco.. Popping seed consistently is first about being clean IMO for a good start. good info tho it does work. Thanks for the share.

I don't see much use in leaving them in water a long. A couple hrs ought to be good enough. It's the oil residue that is prohibiting the seed from absorbing the water quickly. I would think planting a dry seed straight into a microbial rich environment would be best as far as plant health and adaptation. You know, "Evolution", Is it the "quickly adapted" or only the "lucky ones" survive.
You're "spoiling" them right out the gate by soaking them in chemically altered solutions, transforming the bonds into different combinations that might not be beneficial for the plant.
The only possible benefit I might see, is that you can visually,
tell whether the seed has opened or not, lowering "sprouting anxiety."
But it's likely you'll damage the sprouted seed when you drag a delicate root through the medium.
And the "anxiety" is back.
You plant them in the dirt and worry not.
They either come up in a week or they don't.
It's the root temps that drive plant grow.
She'll flat out stop growing on you if the roots get too cold.

I wonder how that came out ? Were you cooling cobs or QB or something else
Cooling COB, but I also have a small board style prototype. It works... well. Very, very well.

Most laptops have a sealed system with no pump, it just uses convection and a fan.

The high end liquid cooled PCs are a trip.

Yes, the tech has some similarities but the really interesting thing is what you can do with all that great once you have extracted it from the chips.

Be careful putting seeds straight into root plugs. Sometimes the hole in them is too narrow and the seed can’t turn around and push itself back out. The method that has always worked for me are to float them in warm (75°-80°) water for 24 hours and then put them into root plugs or straight into soil. I’ve been putting them into soil more often now, though. I just use a light soil that’s better for starting seeds in 4” nursery pots.

except for the part where our little plant usually dies from enriched soil at the beginning. It can be a finicky little weed until it gets some leaves.
I’m trying something different this time. My last couple of grows the seedlings did pretty well in this soil, but it seemed a little dense to me.

This time I mixed it 6 parts soil to 2 parts fine vermiculite and it’s nice and fluffy.
