I'm faced with this conundrum of trying to preserve my BCK cut for future use. As keeping a mother is not a possibility. I have to shut down my grow soon for traveling work commitments.
I'm thinking option one is collecting pollen using GA3. However the downside is the length of time the pollen would remain viable, and once it's gone, it's gone. Not to mention I would be boxed into a corner with how it's used as it would only be a pollen donor at that point.
Option 2 would be trying to immortalize it into seed form for future use. This leads me down a path of many questions. And quite frankly, I feel the correct answers may not even allow me the time to complete the process. But here goes;
I have two clones of the BCK in veg. If I use GA3 on one, and pollinate the other one successfully, I'll end up with feminized seeds of the BCK cut. However, in doing so I just brought froward those potentially nasty recessive genes correct? And in turn, it wouldn't be an exact match to the original cut, but rather a mediocre, potential problematic version?
How would I need to go about stabilizing this cut into seed form?
Scenario 1: Search through the feminized progeny to find the one that represents the original cut the most? Then pollinate that one with the original pollen again?
or
Scenario 2: Search through the feminized progeny to find the one that represents the original cut the most, then use GA3 on that selection, and pollinate the original clone of the cut?
And does it not stop there? Does either scenario keep repeating itself until you receive a high probability of similarity amongst the progeny?

Depending on how long you plan to count on that pollen remaining viable for future crosses, option 1 can be done. But even if it remains viable, you'll only have hybrids of BCK, so this is not ideal.
Since either option requires you to reverse and collect pollen, I would go with making the S1 of BCK. While you will get more recessive genetics express, this is in comparison to the frequency you would expect from an F1 cross. You will still pull out great representations of the BCK and a few you may like more.
Stabilizing the BCK into seed form given you are working from S1 and have the original BCK pollen, would probably be accomplished by pollinating your selected S1 plant with the original mother's reversed pollen. You could then take a great representative from that BX1 progeny and pollinate again with remaining pollen for as many generations as your pollen is viable. So this process can go on successively until you find a limiting factor.
If you are dead set on keeping this plant around, consider finding a fellow grower you trust and de-localize the cut. Having someone be your back-up guy is something that breeders do to make sure that if for any reason they lose the cut, they can get it back. I back-up a cut that never gets shared or ever gets used in any seed making. So if you have limitations or expectations from the person you choose to back her up, make sure to be clear about that upfront with that person. Plus, this option is far less work than reversing and pollinating, and you'll have the exact plant you wanted to keep.

I failed to mention option three like you suggested. I absolutely agree it would be the most ideal. Unfortunately I'm the only one in my tight circle that cultivates and I haven't reached the comfort level of mailing cuts. Not necessarily for trust issues, but rather the repercussions.
It's a shame we weren't neighbors. lol.
I have thought about asking someone to water in my absence. But that's a lot to ask of someone due to the frequency that would most likely be needed. So I just made the hard decision to shut it down in its entirety. I'd feel bad asking to put that inconvenience on someone.
Depending on the collection amount of the pollen produced, I'll definitely keep some in storage and at least make one round of seeds.
Also, I know you expressed interest once the project is complete. That's already a done deal. But if anything at all along the way peaks your interest, just let me know. You'll always have that unlimited access out of sheer gratitude for what you're doing and all of your time invested assisting me along the way. It's always been greatly appreciated.

Looks like all your ladies are recovering and from the looks of them didn’t skip a beat. That blueberry blast looks and sounds delicious! I only grew one blueberry hybrid in the past and it was the most finicky plant I’ve ever grown. Anything would set it off into a funk. I let it go and never looked back. Someday I may try another blueberry

I’m sure it smells spectacular. The one I had was blueberry cheesecake, it was funkaliscious but a major pain to grow or at least at that time. I wasn’t into sog style growing but that would have been a good candidate because it grew straight up with little to no side branching even when topped, supercropped, lst. It just wanted to go straight up and liked no food. Put it in a decent medium with mild amendments and let it go. Sounds easy to a degree but with many other plants growing different ways, it didn’t flow in my garden at that time. I’ll find another some day. Sorry for the long winded text, I’m sure you’ll get that perfect grow in one of these days. Minus the ph issue, from what I’ve seen it looks stellar!

Thank you. I ended up trying my hand at manifolding with this one. It's done really well. But the branching needed to be supported as it's already having trouble with the weight now. I just ended up taping some bamboo stakes around the pot to support her. Other than the PH issue, which if I recall, she was the first to show signs, she hasn't been acting up. Even throughout training she managed to remain happy and responded well. It could be the Hyper Glue in her. (GG4 x Afternoon Delight x C99) I have a nice stinky male that sticks my fingers together after a stem rub. I hit a branch of the BCK, Ghost Train Haze, and 9 Pound Hammer with it's pollen. All of those intrigue me. Mainly the BCK of course, because in my opinion, she needed a little help with her smell.
I pollinated a couple of the branches of the female Hyper Blueberry Blast with Hyper Alien and 9 Pound Hammer. Hyper Alien is (Hyper Glue x Grape Alien Haze) - The Grape Alien Haze is (Grape Ape x White Alien Haze). Should be interesting

Just got home from an awesome vacation in northern Washington. The traffic from Birch Bay to just south of Olympia was the worst I’ve ever experienced up and down the corridor. I was hoping and even stressing a bit being gone. Anyways, I’m back, all is good and here it is folks! @Phylex is the supplier of the cherry on top of my trip. Blackjack are looking pretty uniform, number one seems to mature faster though. I believe you stated that. Been a fun morning catching up. Really happy you got your ladies back on track. The root aphids post keyed me into a pest I had earlier, just an flying ant lol. I wish I was closer to you, I would water your ladies while you were MIA. I feel you on the comfort level of mailing clones. I'm going to follow through with it though cause like your BCKPC I don't want to lose my blueberry 99-00 stock. Didn't realize how fortunate I was to have these until coming onto the forums. Oh and I know I'm late but youre raising some great kids. I'll be lurking

#1 and #2 are very uniform. However #1 is an earlier developer of trichomes and color expressions.
Thankfully they ended up not being root aphids. The minor fungus gnat issue seems to be getting cleaned up nicely. I only had a few on a card or two. Most of the cards remained clean. I'll get another look again today as today is a watering day.
Me too. Apparently flying on autopilot isn't as safe as I thought once everything was dialed in. I completely missed that curve ball that was thrown at me by the city.
I hear ya. I just figure it is what it is at this point. I'm currently trying to mitigate it a bit. I'll be reversing one of the clones here shortly. Kudos on the blueberry. That was a hometown favorite back then.
Thanks brother. They're pretty freaking awesome. As I approach the teenage years, I'm so grateful they're nothing like I was. I hope it will be smooth sailing. Minus the hormones of course. I'm sure that's going to require some tactical navigation.
