The little one drinks like it will never get water again. Dries out 3× as fast as the big one. It has barely grown at all. Clearly it will need a bigger pot but i have so few hopes for it to do well I'm going to end up culling it to make more room for the new plants. I am just waiting to pick up my pots.
If the bottom leaves aren’t sagging and there is still some moisture a couple inches down, wait twelves hours and check again.
That wouldn't create 20% runoff correct? Good advice. These are the plants I'm using to start getting this right so I can properly grow better plants.

Good Point Cap’n! It is Very, very dry where I live, so lights out RH is never an issue for me.
Yep, they will be fine! For the most part, they are a very forgiving plant, especially in soil.
Do those watering amounts include a 20% runoff or ?
I have used both strait coco and i have used a 50-50 mix as well.
Do you feel that improves your yields or growth pace? Or is it just a preferred medium?
If i remember right you are using a soil that has nutrients in it. Be careful and tread lightly with the fox farm trio. Very easy to over feed. The coco has 0 nutes in it. So i kinda know what i need to add to it without fear of over feeding. The soil grow is the most forgiving of all medias so it is a good place to start.
I've got experience with other plants in soil so I understand it a bit better than other mediums.
When you do re-pot, I would gently knock some of the old soil off the root-ball. If it feels like mud, it isn't good for the plants. As you water, the fine silty mud still in the roots will gradually filter through the more aerated soil and the growing roots will help sort it out.
His amounts are "approximate". If your plant is still moist it won't take as much - but then it probably isn't ready to water yet. If you are soaking them, it really doesn't matter if you use more.
But thoroughly soaked soil that drains well you can't "over-soak". So you want to make sure there's good run off all the way around.
So should I rinse the root ball if it is? I've done it with hibiscus before but not sure what it would do to my root system.
Good about the fabric pots cause mine are finally here. Well, they have been shipped and arrived at their destination. So I will have my babies in those pots on Tuesday. I would say I let mine get to the "2-3" on his 10 scale. Leaves drooping is the sign you need to have already been thinking about watering, and it is getting late
With a cloth pot you can actually feel a temperature difference between the pot and the room. You can even feel the difference between the top and bottom of the pot where the lower soil is still moist. When you water you can feel around the pot for dry spots. When it's moist it's cool.
I just did the arithmetic for your formula against how I water and it is pretty close to 13% that I am using going by that. Getting rid of the calculator, it's easier to use a solo cup @ 1 solo cup full water/ per gallon of pot, every 2 or three days.

I wouldn't go that far, but the hydro growers would probably say it's fine. I would "handle" the root ball, see how it feels under the "wrap" of roots you probably have around the outside . Anything that is loose should fall off. I wouldn't mess with anything beyond that. I just meant that I would not try and gently transfer the whole pot-shaped root-dirt-thing without damaging it. Get your fingers in there and "fluff" it to make sure it's not a big clay pellet.
