Anvil 03. The largest and fullest Anvil. I just took that sticky card out of a Dynatrap to replace it figured Id leave it there vs. throw it away. Ive been running the traps in each room where plants grow this run and aside from the major issue in the Cabinet, they are kicking ass collecting stray fungus gnats.

The food crops started the other day, some sweet potatoes Im trying to grow slips from, and a CBG #1 from Seedsman. I have tried to germ these seeds 3 times, this is the third first two didnt work out for me. She doesnt look great.


Some from scratch cannascones with fresh blackberries that the wife made. She made a from scratch orange curd (with oranges she juiced by hand!) to go with them as well that was also mildly infused.

On the gnats - I remember having one bad infestation and a flush with a strong h2o2 solution helped break the cycle. It's an oxidizer and breaks down any larval casings that are in production. I don't remember the ratio off-hand, but it would be something to look up. And it is completely safe for the plants at the proper dilution. It was like 16oz per gallon of water.

I appreciate the information, but for my style of growing I think that H2O2 would wreak havoc on my soil biology, which would potentially mess with my plants nutrient uptake. Good to know its out there if things get dire.

I had been doing a heavy soil surface spray into premoistened soil as Ive done in the past, as directed, but last night I went with a drench. Tripled the quantities I had been using and watered to run off with it. As stated the Closet is good, it has the normal fungus gnat issues one might have with an indoor grow, so it seemed to work there, but if the larvae are deeper in the root mass of the Cabinet plants, the spray might not reach them. We'll see how it goes. Regardless I appreciate you taking the time to track down a solution.

It will do much less harm than larva eating your roots. After a few hours it has done it's thing and broken back down to H2O and should not effect the soil biology long term.

You could even spray straight 3% or a 50/50 dilution right on the top of the soil to wreak a little havoc.That way you can make sure it doesn't get deep into the soil if that is your concern. They do their breeding thing in the top inch or less of soil I believe.

There is a life cycle that needs to be interrupted. Its the reason Id spray every third day for 3 days if I were dealing with a mite issue or something more severe. Im not throwing in the towel on the nematodes just yet. Ive used them in my 400sqft veggie garden (I think in indoor terms, so thats 400sq ft of planting surface) with noticable results across many species of soil dwelling and soil hatching pests, for a couple years now. Ill continue to drench for the next few waterings and see how it goes. I also had wondered if there was an issue with dispersion of benes in the water due to lack of agitation over time, as the Cabinet plants get dealt with after the Closet plants, so if biology settled and got front loaded in the Closet potentially leaving less "biological ppm" for the Cab. Regardless, this time I bubbled up until the second I was pouring, increased the concentration, and soil saturation; using drench as the modality, over spray.

Not a lot to report. Jad to change the tie rods, ends, and O2 sensor on my truck. Jars came in for my auto burper project. Picked up 8 1gal jars and 12 lids. Working out how I want to do it. Ball half gallon on the left for comparison.

Day 47. Culled Anvil 04. His branching was significantly weaker than the other 2. He seemed to have a little deeper color, but that could be because the pollen sacs are less developed / smaller.

Not sure what to do with this one. Not interested in pollinating her, not interested in bringing her in or protecting her from pollen, Id almost consider culling her if I had any reason to. Ill just let her do her thing, she's in enough soil that I shouldn't need to do anything other than water her.


Started culling the JEM male with weaker branching but better sac set and realized I didnt snap a pic before I chopped his top, threw it back in for the pic. He has had plenty of time to drop pollen. The remaining JEM male has more branching, vigorous growth, and color on the sacs. Ill wait a few more days for him to drop some pollen, then cull him as well.

Some mail arrived. Still waiting on one more package before I can wet my next set. 10x 2gal commercial Rain Science bags and a single 15gal bag for my girls 2'x2' indoor flower/food/herb garden. Upon initial inspection I prefer the Radicle Bags, but the 2gal size of the Rain Science was key.


Got my Twenty20 and Roc Bud package from United Seed Bank, quick shipping, amazing communication, I'll be checking them out again in the future.

Picked up the last Wicked Pissah Mystery Mix from @DCSeedExchange hoping to get the Wicked Myst Auto Regs that were advertised in the newsletter to add to my summer auto project, but I must have been too late, just got some more Copa reg testers.

Also picked up 2x (10) packs of these. Seems like a reusable fertilpot. I like the idea, the shape leaves something ro be desired. Its like a snowcone. I am going to drill some 2" holes in a 1020 tray, and rest it upside down on another 1020 tray, that should allow them to stand up, and effectively wick moisture from the bottom tray. I should probably do some side by side comparisons, might prove useful for taking cuttings.

Anvil 07 - the weakest or second weakest Anvil. 09 outside was a throwaway plant I couldnt find anyone to gift it to, so I stuck it in a 10galcpot of dirt next to the Anvil studs. I'll have to look at them both tomorrow and compare.

Anvil 03 - the one that speaks to me. I will be single branching her with the 2 males outside. I may even sacrifice her and just let her and the boys hang out for an afternoon. She is, has, and looks like she will continue to be the dominant structured female this run, followed by 06 (outdoor seed birther), then 05 in my untrained and amateur eyes. 06 has been slowed by the cold outside so 05 looks bushier, but at the time of their separation their was no mistake 06 was more densely structured than 05.

Lol its definitely not the most stable set up. If I continue to use them Ill work out a much more stable tray. This is the first half of this summers projects, the next half Ill be wetting 12-14 of the same 2 genetics, so I may try to do some growth comparisons then. They hold slightly less soil than a 3.5"³ starter pot. May be the kind of thing I only use specifically for transplanting autos in the future, or perhaps taking cuttings and using the bottoms to wick aerated water. With 4qts in a 1020 tray the tips sit an inch below the waters surface.
