I have several large garden spiders of the "golden orb weaver" variety. I have caught several around the house and deposited them in the garden. Two found their way up to the house. One is in my covered greenhouse porch, the other on the side of a steel shed.

The golden orb thing must come from the egg sac. I am thinking about moving it to the garden and let them hatch where I want some to stay.

Once upon a time I walked into a web in the middle of the night patrolling during a field op. It got right in between my NVGs and the edge of my Kevlar. Long story short I almost gave away our position from the panic. Felt like ''Thing'' from The Addams Family walking on my face and neck.

Ugh the heeby jeebys

Ever poke your eye during a night op due to not having any depth perception? It sucks!

That's cool, had a large variety of reptiles when I lived in OK!

Living here in the PNW coast this is what we get......

They are real skittish but I also have rainbow skink. Beautiful black slamander things with rainbow stripes. This is just a stock photo for comparison. I haven't had a camera any time that I have seen one.

Those 'garden' spiders are not banana's LOL. Just no-venom pest-eaters that have the common decency to put thick writing in their webs so you don't face plant into them. And they usually hang out in the middle of the web too. Real hard to hate them. And if they are in a bad spot you knock the web down and it'll move.

I have loads of the green chameleons that are regular large ones - 4-5" and the boys croak and lift their head to show the turkey-beard thing. I think the environment of my little fenceline of pepper trees worked out for the babies to live in. Birds love them and I think the limbs are just not sturdy enough for birds to land on. I have a similar spread-y bush at each end of the fence where they hang out, but they prowl the fenceline
