When they go from rapid rooter into solo cups; 80% Happy Frog & 20% Perlite

Solo cups to 1 gallon pots; 40% Happy Frog, 40% Pindstrup Blonde Dolo, 20% Perlite

1 gallon into 3 gallon; 40% Ocean Forest, 40% Pindstrup Blonde Dolo, 20% Perlite

Pindstrup Blonde Dolo:
Carefully screened blonde sphagnum peat mixed with 30% Forest Gold. We have added 1 kg of high-quality fertiliser and 50 g of micro nutrient. The pH is adjusted with 50% dolomitic lime / 50% calcitic lime. The dolomitic lime helps to avoid pH decrease during the cropping time, and also provides magnesium to the plants.

Forest Gold:
Forest Gold is a natural, fibrous material stabilised with Pindstrup peat. Wood chips from softwood trees are heated to high temperatures and spun into well-defined fibres using high pressure steam – a process that ensures the material is free from weeds, diseases and harmful organisms. The fibres are then carefully mixed with peat. This is what we call Forest Gold.

Forest Gold improves the physical characteristics of a substrate. We have carried out numerous trials with high-end growers around the world which have shown a number of key benefits for plants:

• Superior root Growth
• Improved air/water ratio and drainage
• Improved water distribution and dry surface
• Lightweight substrate
• Consistent quality with structural stability

Good info on lighting. I'll be putting that in my memory bank!

Out of 620w, I'm only running between 420-520 watts so far. (dimmable). I'm still playing with the lights to find the best height vs. wattage vs. coverage. I just noticed from my last grow, the finished flowers being the largest and happiest were between 700-850. Any higher and they were showing stress. 400ish still produced decent results. Even 320 on some outer edges and lowers was serviceable. After that, it was a decent decline. With all that said, my goal is to try and average 700-850 throughout as much of my canopy as possible.

While watering today my curiosity got the best of me. I was looking over one of the pollinated clones and I really wanted to see how one of the seeds looked inside of a browned pistillate calyx. I guess this can be deemed my first seed. I'm still letting all of the plants go longer. I was just curious.

You aren’t taking pics on your phone are you? Or are phones that crazy these days? What are you using for the closeups?

When I'm in a hurry I use my phone. Otherwise I try to use a camera for a better shot. But I have zero photography skills. I'm still trying to figure it out and how to use it. The macro shots were just from a microscope that wifi's to my phone. I would like to learn how to get in that close with a camera.

The camera I use is just a starter DSLR. It's a Cannon Rebel T6. Like I mentioned before, I don't know anything about photography. So I'm still swapping out lenses, switching through settings, (portrait, landscape, manual, etc.) and swapping out different magnifying lenses. I do this until I get frustrated and reach the point of "good enough." lol

Which Uncle Rom's last post reminded me. The next time I have some down time and I'm bored I wanted to watch a few videos on how to take close up macros like that. When I say I don't know a thing about photography, I mean it literally. I had to watch a video on how to use it and set it up. I still have no idea how to work 95% of the features or know what they even do.

True story. lol. I can't tell you how many times I've checked youtube for something. Whether it was fixing my car, truck, dryer, home repair, etc. The only reason I even wanted a camera was to take better pictures of my grows so I could post them in my journal. I actually really like taking pictures of the plants. From the research I did, I chose the Rebel T6 for quality vs. price point. It's supposed to be a good "starter" camera. Someone can easily spend a lot more money on a much higher end camera and all of the accessories to go with it. I ended up buying a bundle that came with a bunch of stuff I don't know how to use yet. lol

Flower Tent Update: Day 13

The girls are moving right along. I plan to do some select branch pollinations dependent upon the success of my pollen collection. So far I've collected pollen from my Hyper Alien male. I'm still waiting for my 9lb. Hammer and Hyper Blueberry Blast males to mature enough so I can collect some pollen from them.

Flower Tent Update: continued - Some of the pollinated clones; Day 68 / 52 days after pollination. All of these were pollinated with my 9lb. Hammer male. I'm still waiting for the seeds to finish up. I stopped feeding last watering and plan to give them straight tap water from here on out. I did cut the top fan leaves off of a couple of the plants for two reasons. 1. An attempt to allow more light down to the lower flower sites. 2. An attempt to make the plant think it was getting eaten and hopefully focus most of its energy toward the seeds. I'm thinking I must be getting close. These clones were about 8-10" tall when I flipped them to flower. I'm guessing they're roughly 18-24" now.

Harvest update: (1 of 3)

Harvested: 9lb. Hammer, BCK, Tangie, Blackjack, and Gelat.OG

This run was a test run with a new light, unfamiliar strains, and a different growing method. I switched from a 1000w HPS to a HLG600 QB board. I ran it between 420-520 watts.

I was unfamiliar with these strains, so I wanted this to be a trial run. I was only aiming to see if there was something worth while, while not using any of my higher priority seeds.

Rather than train hard throughout veg, and run a SCROG netting, I wanted to try bamboo staking. I didn't top them much and I limited the rest of the training to LST only. Since I wasn't growing for maximum yield, I lowered my expectations. However I'd be lying if I didn't say I was somewhat disappointed after averaging only 2 ounces per plant.

Changes for the current flower tent run: I've decided to raise my light a few more inches and I'm going to run the light at it's full 620w potential. I'm going to utilize more of the vertical height in my tent rather than keep my plants short. They received essentially zero training other than one supercropping, approximately 3-4 weeks before being flipped. I want to see what kind of yields I get from these growing methods. I certainly hope it's more than 2 ounces per plant. If it's not significantly more, I'll most likely go back to using the SCROG method.
