Uncle Rommy is a scavenge king and bada$$ guerrilla grower. He could grow a chronic plant with a lighter and a jar of piss. I've seen him grow some crazy sh*t with with cobbled together fixtures and every piece of Tupperware in the house. But necessity is the father of invention and it's hard for him to get the same equipment we do for a fair price. I know, I've tried to find it for him up there.

ya i like cheapo premade rigs cause im fairly unorganized and not all that bright or motivated at times. (multiple head injuries and far too much drugs back in the day) also i cant get at alot of good diy parts without paying out the arse up here.
i would recommend you listen to smithj over me cause you share a similar climate and are more tech savy like him also. dont let him talk ya into spending over a buck a watt tho. especially them american dollahz

I have something brewing for the 5x5 RDWC tent The ones I need for the 5x10s will definitely be quality cob/qb/strip. HPS, CMH and T5 are all holding me over for now for those. I was interested in the enjoyield for a 4x3 propogation tent. 1x3 of it is sectioned off for seedlings and clones (racked). I was thinking 2'L x 1'W T5 for the 1x3, one on each level. Then Rom posted that enjoyield. They're both comparable in price. Also something for the 3x3 part (moms/bonsais). My 4' T5s are too big by a foot. Unless I hang them diagonally?

I have not seen your unit specifically, but often you can shorten the track that the tombstone fits in. Just move the cap inward.
Also, (with an additional ballast) wire it up ODNO. Even double driven T12's will get you pretty deep into veg, not only are they are dirt cheap, you can park them on the canopy.

Thanks SJ! I’d like to get a QB LED that will veg a 4 x 4 tent. I’m pretty handy and could do a lot myself. Would like something that comes in around $200 US. Any suggestions?

Amazon has qb120s which are almost equivalent. Thw 132 edition is soldout most everywhere

They're sun systems T5 so the reflector is solid. I don't want to cut them. Although double driven T5 intrigues me, I need to see to understand the concept. I typically veg no more than 3 weeks and so far a regular T5 has done the job. If I can get beefier with double driven then I may consider it

Yeah, that's almost exactly what I was saying he needed. You can build 4x 60w-65w QB's for less than $270 (including other parts) if you buy the 4x HLG 65w prebuilt boards and 240w 24v driver separately. It's a super sweet deal and very common pricing on Amazon. Sh*t, it doubles the grow area of my 260w of CXB's that I paid over $450 for. They are $40 less than the cheap LED boards. I think we've entered into a new eara of value priced, high end, energy efficient lighting fixtures. At only 240w a 16'x16' tent can be run off a fairly small off-grid solar system for 8-9 months of the year here in Cali. For about $3500 initial investment you can grow the tent for 5yrs+, then only $600-$800 of replacement batteries every 5yrs or so. Compared to the cost of running 16'x16' of halogen lights it could pay for itself in a couple seasons or less. If you pay for electricity yearly or semi-annualy it could put a serious dent in lump payments based on power company estimates.

Those QB's are a God-send at current market prices here in the States. After I save enough to cover my yearly expenses from this fall's harvest, I'll be buying myself a set.

@Uncle Romulus , I bet it might finally be feasible to do with these QB's what we were talking about doing with the COB's last year. Even the shipping package could be cheaper. If you can get the driver up there for a reasonable price this could work. I'll get a shipping estimate from the post office after I buy my boards.

I’m fairly loyal to cmh for this winter but leds (with a dehumidifier running constant) are my jam for summer. I have no need to be buying more light not sure why I bought that last little rig but couldn’t resist. I’ll prob end up hooking up a buddy with it down the road. All this talk of efficiency is fairly irrelevant for your average joe wanting to toss some plants in a 2x2 little tent and grow some smoke.
But at this point I have-
-1000 watt hps (digital)
-315 w cmh (fusion bright)
-315 w cmh (silverstar)
-315 w cmh (nanolux with Philips bulb)
-130 w cxa cob fixture
-125 w enjoyield 600
-300-400+ w of led bulbs of various spectrums (Homemade ghetto units)
Had a few more led rigs but gave em away or sold em cheap.

I think I’ll lay in the bed I’ve purchased for quite some time regardless of advancements in tech. I always love seeing other folks’ cool builds tho.

This time of year is kind of like hunting a moose. You go out there and put in the time and effort and suddenly there is that 2 ton bull and you shoot it BOOM!!!
Now you have a moose....hooray....now get gutting it and once you crawl into that thing and clean it all out figure out how you get it out of the bush. 1200 pounds of what do i do with it or more if you got a monster bull.

Or you have a killer great grow...grow a ton and now its harvest time....GREAT

Damned humidity, trimming til your hands cant stand it. GREAT

But when the stuff is in jars (or the moose is in the freezer)....all is good in the world again
