Hahaha. Kinda goes both ways though, lol. My hydro guy got really offended when he was saying I needed to clean all the pots and everything between round, and I said "What about no-till." He made a smartass comment that I must know everything and walked back in the back room. I waited until he came back out to get the shit I came for But I can't help myself when it comes to shit like that, so let's just say I spoke my mind when he came back out. The Fed-Ex guy came in and left, trying to stay out of the way, lol. Everyone knows my name there now and is super friendly when I walk in, lol.
Oh I bet. The local hydro store is actually a organic store. Carry BAS and everything. Those poor guys never saw me coming. They got quizzed and then educated. The organic guy there was using cover crop seed blend as living mulch and couldnt figure out why his plants looked like shit. Got him fixed up.

Nasa funds him, for real? That would give him bonus points in my feeble mind.
Yep, currently studying growing crops on mars.

I have the BAS seed blend I use for a cover crop. Also a different canna-specific blend I found. As far as chop-n-drop for mulch what is the issue? The variety of plants is supposed to provide a more diverse mix of soil goodies when decomposed.

Being worried about an entire sustainable ecosystem in space it probably should be a large part of the studies. Composting solves a lot of issues and is regenerative.

My first rice hulls came from them through BAS. Super cheap. And they can get the stuff for me for a discount, but I'm usually just lazy and have BAS send it directly.

Super lucky that I have this awesome shop just a few minutes away in my little mountain town.

I actually answered why you use clover as a living mulch layer vs a seed blend here : http://chuckersparadise.com/threads/2021-mystery-pack-competition.2607/post-175980

Is your canna blend this one?

Not sure the plan is to take animals there to shit all over mars.
If you run out of Part B halfway through flower even Amazon can't help you on Mars...
I doubt cannabis is going to be a starter crop on Mars. How high are you right now?

I dont use rice hulls. For a big ass bed they break down too fast imo. I love the fact that mine carries BAS.

Yes, that was the other blend I found. I mixed the two. Mainly the same seeds, different ratios.

*DING-DING-DING* - he is not concentrating on growing weed. I don't care hw much research he does on growing "things" He knows a whole fucking lot of stuff that I don't really care about for my purposes. Are there topics where he isn't super biased and helpful? Sure, I have seen him talking about other stuff on all the random youtube shit I watch.

I don't put a lot of weight beind Chris Trump and his KNF stuff either. He grows macadamia nuts.

Both have nuggets that you can use, but it's a lot to weed through to find it.

LOL HAF. Well I mean he directs an entire department of researchers doing all kinds of things with crops. Not just growing on mars. thats just one lab. Hes got college courses on growing. He's proly not doing a lot of research himself anymore. Whats with this distrust of scientists?

I have been to college. 4yr degree. That means interacting with a variety of professors with a variety of degrees in all kinds of shit. There are lots of people of varying levels of life experience that carry a doctorate or three. Saying that because someone is a professor means they are right is so terribly unsound it's scary.

Yeah - moisture level monitoring isn't really an issue. I think it actually lets me love on the plants a little more often without doing damage :ROFLMAO:

I water each pot about a quart every other day once they get going.
right but the cover crop seed with rob nutrients from your soil that your cannabis plants need. Clover, by itself will not. It pulls the major nutrient (Nitrogen) from the air. Not from the soil. However, all those other seeds will consume nutrients to grow.

I mean, if I have a radish or a cabage or a hairy vetch (whatever) in there it's not going to grow anything. the tops are going to get chopped constantly and any fruits would be negligible.

They would also decompose between runs and give back other compounds to the soil than what they took. Some being higher in some element or other having a mix supposedly expands what is available in the soil. it's obviously all a long term investment.

In one statement you have disqualified the entire idea of documented education. LOL

which are returned to the soil for re-consumption right?
No. They're using the nutrients whilst growing. Those plants are growing DEEP roots into your pots. so if you dont kill those plants then they will compete with the cannabis plant. This is why I say that if you use cover crop, to KILL it all. We want those roots broke down as well. Lots of nutrients there. But if your not killing em and letting grow in your pots... See where im going with this? Cover crops get killed. Clover gets mowed.

It will grow roots. Constantly. Clover roots are shallow mostly in the top 2-3 inches. Hairy Vetch will grow out the bottom of your pot.

My wife shaves her vetch. Or am I in the wrong thread again?

That's why I ordered White Dutch Clover from BAS. I've only experimented with house plants with it so far though.
